Dear Intimacy,
What would you have me know today?
when i was growing up, my mom gave me a book called Making Things. i loved (and love) this book. the book was made in the 70s and had projects like making paper, bread dough sculpture, making a go-cart, and croqueting a sweater. i learned how to make so many things from this book, including tie dye and paper mache.
lately, i feel like making things. i like the feeling of using my hands and creating something i can hold.
i have a photography project about another encounter with grief (in july!) and want to make a book. this time, i am making the actual book! i bought a book about how to make books, however the author made everything seem a bit too complex for me. i am someone who does not read the instructions before assembling. instead, i just get going and see what happens. so when i read this book, i got overwhelmed and didn’t start.
yesturday, however, i threw caution to the wind and just started making things! i started with pumpkin muffins, then pie dough (my first time), and then a small book! i hand stitched the paper together to form a book. not hard! and fun! i’m going to keep going to find the type of book which will suit my grief project.
