Sponsorship Opportunity with a Fine Art Photographer + a Mom (or mum, as my mom said) Runner
Running has been part of my life since I was three, when my dad taught me to run by running with me around our house telling me to pump my arms. I ran throughout elementary school, into high school on the track and cross county teams, in university with the University of British Columbia’s cross-country team, then transitioned into road marathons. I even ran throughout my pregnancies, including the day before Miles was born. Running is my favourite thing.
In 2023, my mom died. When the doctors told her they would be taking off her oxygen, she told my dad that she wasn’t ready to die. Her words stayed with me. My mom’s death made me see time differently. My kids, Miles and Margot, are watching me, learning from how I move through life. Running became not just training, but a way of mothering. Dennis, my husband, has been my constant partner through it all. He doesn’t make a big show of it, but he’s the one who steadies things at home, picks up the slack without complaint, and makes sure our family keeps moving while I chase big goals.
This spring, I broke my toe and for the first time in my life I couldn’t run. So, I ran in the pool. Moving forward is what I do. And now, in 2027, I have the opportunity to take that spirit to the world stage: The Great World Race — 7 marathons, on 7 continents, in 7 days. My kids, and Den will meet me in Miami for the last marathon, running (or riding his bike, as Miles says) to the finish line. Miles and Margot will get to see their mom complete 7 marathons in 7 days, across the world.
The Ask
To participate, I need to raise $60,000 CAD for race entry, travel, and logistics. I am seeking sponsorship from families and companies who want to be part of this journey, supporting not just an athlete, but a mother, an artist, and a story about resilience and love.

Why give?
-
I have always been a runner. I didn’t understand why people race races when someone they loved died. Until my mom died. I want to run The Great World Race in her honor.
-
I am also a photographer. I use my camera to photograph my experience Mothering without a Mother.
-
When you donate and support my mission to run The Great World Race you will receive a fine art photograph of your choice from my Print Shop. My kids, Miles and Margot, want to gift you something! So, they will make a friendship bracelet to accompany your fine art photograph.

The Great World Race is an extreme adventure. I will run 7 marathons in 7 days on 7 continents. The 2024 race started in Antarctica, then runners flew and raced in South America, Australia, Asia, Europe, South America, and finished in North America. This will be an adventure of a lifetime!

Things can change in a hurry, however, based on previous years, I will have to fly to Cape Town, South Africa by November 12 2027 to meet the other participants and race directors. The Race is scheduled to start in Antarctica on November 15 and finish in Miami on November 21.

No! BUT my family will be in Miami on November 21 to see the final stage of the race. Miles, my son, will be 10 and Margot, my daughter, will be 7 at this time. I’m hoping they will want to run part of this race with me. When I casually mentioned this to Miles, he said that running with me sounded too much like work. Instead he said he would bring his bike and bike alongside me. I’ll take it! I’m not sure if my husband Dennis will be up for a marathon, but he will definitely be up for the post-marathon swim in the ocean!!
