Dear Intimacy,

What would you have me know today?

our actual life (january 2026).

look how many words margot can spell and sentences she can write! i am always wearing my rose coloured glasses, but margot is amazing. how can she spell and write all of the sentences at age 6? (miles is also amazing).

i practice reading and spelling with margot in the mornings before school while den helps miles with math (long division during january). before den could help miles, den had to use youtube and refresh his math skills as it’s been 40 years since den has done long division. math practice doesn’t happen, however, until miles has had anywhere from 10-20 minutes of a (calm-ish) temper tantrum where he throws his arms up in the air, tells us how stupid math is, and shouts WHEN WILL HE EVER NEED TO DO LONG DIVISION. finally, miles takes himself and his book upstairs to his room and reads until he’s ready to practice math. during this time i am secretly thankful i am not the person helping miles with math (there’s no way i can do long division) and having a good chuckle inside my head.

oh the good old days (also the name of the song i used for this slideshow)
