Dear Intimacy,
What would you have me know today?
my toe was never broken! (i think). my husband, den, is the best doctor in the world. when i initially hurt my toe I asked den to take a look. although he isn’t a sports medicine doctor (he’s an emergency room doc), den did all the tests for a broken toe and i had NO pain, no reaction. the radiologists’ report of my x-ray suggested i may have a tiny hairline fracture or a blood vessel. ever since i had the x-ray, and have been walking around in the boot, and when den sees me, he asks how my blood vessel is. then follows up with he doesn’t think my toe is broken.
last friday i took off my boot!!!!! and i can walk! no pain, no discomfort! you should see me, walking around the neighbourhood, walking to school, it’s amazing (but still water running…)
today, miles, margot and i drew a chair. but! instead of focusing on the positive forms, betty edwards asked us to pay attention to, and then draw, the negative spaces around the chair. betty also suggested to start with a chair that has a lot of negative space within the chair, similar to the chair van gogh used. the problem with our chairs are, they have very little negative space! needless to say, i found this exercise very challenging! i’m going to try again tomorrow.
my drawing of a chair, with a shadow that looks like a shark’s fin!
miles’ drawing of a chair. from his caption: “this is my chair. i don’t know if the smudging helped. unlike mom, i drew my chair from my mind which made it harder.” my favourite part of miles’ drawing is the tiny heart he added after he signed his name!
margot’s drawing of a cat in a chair! which is on top of a giant rainbow! BEAUTY EMERGENCY
