The Westglen Girlfriends

September of 2022 I started photographing my son’s grade 1 class every month these grade 1 students spent time in the outdoor classroom. I quickly noticed a group of girls who played together, yet apart from their classmates. I was intrigued. Each month, I noticed the same pattern of the girls playing together, yet apart from their classmates. I found myself being pulled towards these girls. I couldn’t help but photograph their friendship. I then asked their parents if it would be alright if could hang out with my camera and document, over the next few years, their developing friendship. I don’t know what will happen, but I am excited to find out! This work is ongoing.
