Dear Intimacy,
What would you have me know today?
a few months ago den suggested i take a trip to qualicum beach, solo (!!) to visit my dad, mark (brother), and sister-in-law, and nephews (i want to include everyone’s name, instead of saying ‘mark’s family’, but this makes for a long sentence!) last saturday, mark and his son picked me up from the airport and we surprised my dad!! i couldn’t stop laughing when i rang my dad’s doorbell and told him i’m here for FIVE nights (i’ve slept every night, uninterrupted, for 8+ hours!!). it’s been the best five days. last night all of us we went to the beach for ice cream because it was 27 degrees! summertime. times like these make me extremely excited and so happy, yet also sad because these times are few and far between (and without my mom).
all of this to say, miles, margot, and i haven’t been drawing because i haven’t seen them! i thought about bringing my drawing books and supplies, then i thought it’s okay to take a short break. if i’ve learned anything from my foot, it’s that rest + stress = growth (and the rest part of the equation is equally important as the stress. and i will admit, i am not great at resting).
but! over these five days, i’ve created a video of our actual life from this month. the soundtrack to my slideshow is all classical. at home, i often play classical music because i love it, and i need to calm down (we are at the sibling rivalry stage). the first song is max richter recomposed version of vivaldi’s spring I. i could listen to his composition all day. the second song is kaleidoscope orchestra remixing fred again’s delilah pull me out of this. when i play this song at home, more than likely you will hear miles and/or margot saying “not the symphony version of fred again…again!
