Dear Intimacy,

What would you have me know today?

i have some summertime sadness (although i’m secretly excited for tomorrow, the first day of school!). early august, miles participated in a week summer camp at one of Edmonton’s theatres, The Citadel. his group performed, Homerun, where miles played a ball player and the announcer. he was excited to be the announcer because he got to wear a huge red sport jacket (which enveloped his entire body). as such, the soundtrack to my slideshow had to be Neil Diamond’s Sweet Caroline, as this song as become a baseball song.

the last 30 seconds of the slideshow are some of my favourite moments of the summer (you will see why if you watch to the end!). another favourite moment happened this morning after i came home from my run. i asked margot what she and den did while i was running. margot said ‘dad was chillin’ in the kitchen.’ margot is 5! i was immediately reminded about last summer when we were in qualicum beach and i was walking miles to art camp. i asked margot if she wanted to walk with us or stay with my dad. margot told me she wanted to ‘hang with grandpa.’ how the slang comes effortlessly to the kids (i feel ridiculous when i text or say ‘hang’ with someone. i am still at the ‘hang out’ stage).
