Dear Intimacy,
What would you have me know today?
today i saw something differently. i was pool running (one week now…i’m happy to be moving but still wish i was running not in water). the pool was set up to be long course, 50m laps, which i like best because there are fewer turns. as i was making my way down the pool, i was staring at the giant score board which was cycling through all of the water sports, with each associated water sport logo, you can join in alberta. when the water polo section came up i noticed the water polo logo was a bit like the vase (or face) illusion - was the logo a wave or an arm throwing a water polo ball? i have stared at this logo for one week and had not seen this illusion until today! i attribute this new way of seeing to betty edwards and her magical teaching abilities!
this morning betty asked us to get out our viewfinders and once again, draw our hands. this time, we drew with washable markers onto a glass surface while closing one eye. when i finished and placed my piece of glass overtop of my white paper, i was amazed (miles thought i drew too many little lines). i was also able to slide right into the ‘not caring about the outcome, i’m only drawing lines’ mode which was a great state to be in.
my hand, with too many little lines.
miles’ hand with just enough little lines
margot’s hand with just enough hearts and stars
