Dear Intimacy,

What would you have me know today?

The other night I had a dream that I was running along all the rooftops (I was running! I’ve had a few of these running dreams lately). I ended my run at one of the houses I grew up in. My mom, dad, and brother were inside and we sat down together to eat chocolate ice cream. This is the third time my mom has visited me in my dreams. I loved the feeling of this dream.

This morning, coincidently, Miles, Margot and I drew a landscape from childhood. I drew a picture I drew often during childhood - the sun in the upper right corners, fluffy clouds (still my favourite kind of cloud), and my family as tall as our house (our house with two windows and one door with a doorknob. Apparently kids always draw the doorknob!) Miles drew an intricate mountain landscape (love his shading and textures), and Margot drew a pineapple on an island. If you look closely at Margot’s drawing, you will notice she also drew the sun in the corner, although the opposite corner from me! Kids are amazing.

When I was young I loved how my dad swept his bangs to the side. To this day, my dad has the same haircut and is adamant he does NOT have bangs!

Okay, I know I’m wearing my rose coloured glasses, but Miles’ is amazing! (so is Margot)

Two years ago, for the first Christmas without my mom, we took my dad and whisked ourselves to the Big Island of Hawaii. This was Margot’s first time in Hawaii. I wonder if this is where the pineapple on the island came from?

I saw this figure yesturday when I was reading about stages of drawing during childhood in Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain.
